AI Electrical Consultant
ElectroBoard includes a built-in AI chat for electrical questions. It is available on every page — the landing site, the editor, the tools, and the blog.
How to Open
Desktop, on the panel page — the AI button on the right of the canvas opens a docked panel on the right, styled like the Properties panel. It gives you a full-width area for longer answers.
Desktop, on other pages and mobile — the chat button in the bottom-right corner opens a floating drawer (full-screen on mobile).
What You Can Ask
- IEC 60364 installation rules — the AI searches the indexed clauses of the standard
- Related IEC standards — IEC 60898 (MCBs), IEC 61008/61009 (RCDs/RCBOs), IEC 60947 (switchgear), IEC 61439 (assemblies)
- Equipment selection — which breaker, cable, or RCD suits a specific situation
- Term explanations — what selectivity, coordination, or voltage drop mean
- Practical advice — how to connect a water heater, how to balance load across phases
Answers include clickable badges that link to the specific IEC clause cited — clicking one opens the reference with the paragraph highlighted.
Search Scope — Project's Active Standards
The standards active for your project (in Panel Settings) define what the AI searches. When IEC 60364 is the only active standard, the AI searches the IEC corpus only, so answers are narrower and more relevant. When several standards are active, the search is hybrid across every active index, ranked by relevance.
Other regional codes — NEC, BS, PN — are not indexed yet and will be added in later releases.
Panel Context
When you work in the editor, the AI automatically sees your panel configuration:
- Number of rails and devices
- Network parameters (phases, earthing system, supply power)
- Load per phase and imbalance
- Active validation errors
This lets you ask contextual questions, for example: "Why does my panel show a selectivity error?" — and the AI sees the specific problem.
Answers with References
The AI cites specific IEC clauses in its answers. Every reference is clickable and leads to the matching page in the standards reference.
Answers are formatted with Markdown: bold text, lists, and code blocks.
Limitations
- Rate limit: a limited number of requests per hour (a stricter limit for guests than for signed-in users) to prevent abuse
- The AI can make mistakes — always verify critical decisions with a qualified electrician
- Answers are based on IEC 60364 and related IEC standards; other national codes (NEC, BS, PN) are not covered yet
